WOODEN WALLS AND STONE BASTIONS – A GREAT SUCCESS!

Our first joint conference, with the Nautical Archaeology Society, held in Portsmouth during 16th and 17th November, gave the 170 delegates a wide range of talks to digest and enjoy and opportunities to meet old friends and make new ones.

There was a fascinating selection of sponsors’ stands in the entrance foyer where we all learnt about how wonderful some of the new technologies were; and appreciated the enthusiasm of their proponents.

There were also pre- and post- conference events including a tour of Fort Cumberland and Beer and Skittles on the Friday; and tours of Fort Nelson and the Explosion Museum on the Monday.

A few pictures of the event will be put on the PUBLICATIONS page and a piece in the next Newsletter, published in January.
