WORLWIDE SURVEY OF BRITISH ARTILLERY

This third survey has been designed by the Ordnance Society to record the many British Breech-Loading and Quick-Firing Guns still in existence across the world.  There are hundreds of guns covering many calibres and types, that are located in Museums, Institutions, Parks and private collections.  Many are unknown outside their foreign ‘home’ and they are a part of our history which has not been studied or recorded in its entirety.

The data is in a similar format to our National Artillery Survey of the UK with a comprehensive range of data on individual guns, including photographs where available, and is also freely available.

The initial single spreadsheet with separate pages for each calibre/gun type, is now updated with the FOURTH version that has seven additional calibre/gun type pages included.  The total list of 163 guns is include in the categories below:

15-inch, 10-inch, 9.2-inch, 8-inch, 7.5-inch, 6-inch 26cwt & 30cwt, 5.5-inch (Naval), 5.25-inch, 5-inch (Naval), 5-inch (60-pr), 4.7-inch, 4-inch, 25-pr, 18-pr, 17-pr A/Tk, 12-pr 12cwt, 3-pr Hotchkiss, and 40mm Bofors; all with entries.

There are still some blank pages for the 12-inch, 6-inch (still to be transferred), 5.5-inch Medium Gun and a number of other smaller calibres that will be populated as soon as possible.
