This fourth survey has been produced by Ordnance Society member Paul Williams to record the many British Rifled Muzzle Loading Guns still in existence in the UK and across the world. There are now 188 guns included, that are located in Museums, Institutions, Parks and private collections. Many are unknown outside their foreign ‘home’ and they are a part of our history which has not been studied or recorded in its entirety.
The data is in a similar but smaller format to our National Artillery Survey of the UK with a range of data on individual guns, including links to photographs where available.
The first version of this database now been updated to version 5 and added to the website. The additions include RMLs from the Royal Artillery Museum at Larkhill, and an unusual RML at the The United States Military Academy at West Point. The latter is believed to have been supplied during the American Civil War.
