There are new additions to the files available on the ORDNANCE DOWNLOADS pages.  One of the first Anti-Aircraft manuals, dated 1917, has been added to the ‘Miscellaneous’ page; and a Handbook for the 3-pdr & 6-pdr Hotchkiss Guns has been added to the ‘Modern Artillery B.L. & Q.F.’ page.

Newsletter No. 131 has been printed, packed and dropped off at the local Post-Office.  The Covid pandemic has caused many problems in supply chains, including postage stamps.  This means that some of the UK Newsletters may not be despatched until the start of next week.

Ordnance Society members have contributed a fascinating new collection of documents for the Ordnance Downloads page. They include two more OS Research Guides on ‘Range Finding’ and ‘Fortification and Siegecraft’, and the initial pamphlets from a large set of RAOS publications 1929-1941. All are fascinating reads and excellent reference material.

The latest Newsletter, No. 131, is now available for download from the PUBLICATIONS page on the Ordnance Society website.  Members who have opted for hard copy should have these posted to them by the end of next week.

Ordnance Society member Änder Bruns has sent scans of two complementary handbooks; the original Austrian 1900 24cm M98 Morser and the gun that Britain then purchased; the 1915 9.45-in Howitzer.  These have now been added to the MODERN ARTILLERY B.L. & Q.F section of the new ORDNANCE DOWNLOADS webpage.

The ORDNANCE DOWNLOADS page has now been split into sub-pages, with the aim of making research into different topics easier. The changes are still ongoing and some sub-pages have no entries yet; and some entries are listed in different sub-pages where appropriate.

The current UK COVID-19 restrictions on groups of people meeting indoors means that, sadly, the Ordnance Society has had to cancel this year’s AGM. We will of course plan for the 2021 AGM as soon as we can, but in the meantime the various annual reports for 2019-2020 that would have been presented at this year’s AGM, will be published in the next Newsletter (October 2020).
